How To Install the fabric for Wall Upholstery

This Video Will Show You The Fundementals Of Installing Fabric For Your Wall Wpholstery Project

The basics For installing fabric for wall upholstery

Basing The Fabric For Wall Upholstery

Basing and Positioning Fabric Before Stapling

Once the wall preparation and padding are complete, the next step in the wall upholstery process is to begin positioning the fabric. Before you start stapling, it's important to have a plan for exactly how you want the fabric to lay on the wall.

Plan Your Fabric and Seam Placement

Before attaching the fabric, determine where you want your seams to fall. Seam placement is an important part of a professional wall upholstery installation and should be planned before permanently attaching the fabric.

Once you know where the fabric needs to be positioned, find the center of the fabric and begin at the top center of the wall.

Basing the Fabric

Start by temporarily securing the fabric at the top center. You can use black tacks or a good-quality push pin for this step.

From the center, begin working your way outward to the left and right. At this stage, the goal is to position the fabric and make sure it is laying exactly where you want it.

Don't rush into stapling.

Take the time to check the fabric position, alignment and planned seam locations. Because the fabric is only temporarily held in place, you can still make adjustments.

Once you're satisfied that the fabric is positioned correctly, then—and only then—begin stapling across the top.

Properly basing and positioning the fabric before permanently attaching it gives you much more control over the finished wall upholstery installation.
